Men's Golf Sits Third After Round One of SVSU Spring Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's golf team kicked off the first day of the SVSU Spring Invitational on Saturday, March 18. The invitational hosted 21 teams from around the country including GLIAC foes such as Purdue Northwest, Davenport, and Wayne State to name a few.  The tournament is the first of the spring for the Cardinals. 

Connor Jackacki is currently leading the way for the Cardinals right now sitting T4 scoring 72 after 18 holes. Jackacki had three bogeys and three birdies on a rollercoaster front nine. He finished the back even par as well carding a closing birdie to remain even. Nickalus Bailey came out firing in his first round of action, dropping three birdies in his first four holes. The high winds caught up to Bailey and he finished the round with a one-over 73 good for T12. Ethan Swenson (T36) and Jiseung Choi (T43) rounded out the scoring for the Cardinals shooting 76 and 77 respectively.  

The men's team sits in third place (298) just one stroke behind second place, Davenport University, and just four strokes back from first place, Purdue Northwest. The second round of the tournament will be a shotgun start tomorrow morning, March 19.
