SVSU men second after two rounds at Cav Classic

CANTON, Ohio – The Saginaw Valley State University men's golf team opened play at the team's final tune-up for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships at the Walsh Cavalier Classic hosted by Walsh University Monday at Glenmoor Country Club in Canton, Ohio.

The Cardinals improved by 12 strokes in the second round of the day and sit alone in second place heading into day two of the event on Tuesday. SVSU shot a 293 in the opening round and a 281 in the second round to finish the day with a total of 574.

Ferris State University leads the event after two rounds with a total score of 569.

Three Cardinals currently sit in the top-10 individually, led by Jared Lyons in a tie for first place with a two-round score of 141. Brendon Gouin and Connor Jakacki are tied for eighth place with a 144, while Brady Dice fired a 145 two-round total to finish day one in 15th.

The Cardinals close play at the Cavalier Classic on Tuesday.
