SVSU men land three on All-GLIAC teams

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- The Saginaw Valley State University men's basketball team had three senior student-athletes earn Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors on Friday. 

Senior Delano Smith was named First Team All-GLIAC. Smith earns All-GLIAC honors for the second straight season after being named to the Second Team last season. The Novi, Mich., native is the Cardinals leading scorer with 16.9 points per game while appearing in every game this season. He has been named the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week twice this season. 

Darnell Hoskins Jr. was named Second Team All-GLIAC, earning All-GLIAC honors for the third time in his career. Hoskins is averaging 14.1 points per game this season for SVSU and broke the program record for career 3-pointers made with 273 and counting. 

Joining Hoskins on the Second Team was Tyler Witz. The senior transfer from North Dakota State University is posting 12.5 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. He has appeared in all but one game for SVSU this season. 

The No. 4 seed Cardinals will take on No. 8 seed Davenport University in the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals on Saturday at 2 pm at host site Michigan Tech in Houghton, Mich.
