Hoskins Jr. wins second straight GLIAC award

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – For the second straight week, Saginaw Valley State University senior guard Darnell Hoskins Jr. earned a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honor.

The Dayton, Ohio native has been named the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week after leading the Cardinals to a pair of home wins against Northern Michigan University and Michigan Tech.

Hoskins Jr. led the SVSU comeback against Northern Michigan, hitting a big 3-pointer late. He finished with 23 points, including three 3-pointers. Against MTU, Hoskins Jr. scored a team-high 21 points, connecting on four 3-pointers.

This season, Hoskins Jr. is averaging 14.1 points per game for SVSU (11-5 overall, 5-3 GLIAC). The Cardinals travel to Purdue Northwest to take on the Pride at 8 pm Thursday in Hammond, Ind.
