UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University men's basketball team closed out the calendar year with a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win over Wayne State University on the road on Saturday. 

Senior Tyler Witz led the Cardinals to the 67-55 win over the Warriors and has been named the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday. 

Witz led the Cardinals with 18 points on 8-of-16 shooting, dominating on the inside in the first half with 14 points. He added eight rebounds, including five on the offensive end of the floor.  

The Clearwater, Fla., native is averaging 11.6 points and seven rebounds per game, while hitting 54.8 percent of his shots from the floor for the Cardinals (8-3, 3-1 GLIAC)
