Men’s Basketball to Host Open Scrimmage This Weekend

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's basketball team will host an Intrasquad Scrimmage Saturday, October 23rd at 10:30 am at O'Neill Arena.

The Red versus White scrimmage will allow fans the opportunity to see the squad go head to head. The event is free of charge and open to everyone. The Red team will feature a pair of seasoned veterans in seniors Delano Smith and Darnell Hoskins Jr. They will be joined by junior forward Tyrik Singh, sophomore guard Tre Garrett, redshirt-freshman Brian Booker, and freshmen Steven Post, Gabe Hawes, and Trip Riemersma.

On the other bench, the White team will be led by seniors James Toohey and Tyler Witz. Assisting those two will be sophomores Maurice Barnett and Jarno Pomstra, and freshmen Freddie McIntosh, Victor Young, Alijah Harrison, and Kevonne Taylor. Following the Scrimmage, the men's team will be partnering up with the SVSU women's basketball team for Community Youth Day. This annual event is a free youth basketball clinic put on for the local community, and will go from 1:30-2:30 at O'Neill Arena. The event leads right into the home SVSU football game vs Wayne State at 3 pm.

The Men's Basketball season is officially underway and your Cardinals kick off the regular season with a GLIAC/GMAC Crossover. SVSU takes on Hillsdale College on Friday, November 12th at 7 pm and Malone University on Saturday, November 13th at 3 pm.
