SOMERS, Wis. - The SVSU men's basketball team recently secured its first-ever NCAA Division II Midwest regional tournament berth as a member of the NCAA Division II level. The Cardinals enter the tournament as the no. 5 seed and will square-off against the no. 4 seed, Lewis University on Saturday (Mar. 12) at 8:30 p.m. central time.

Saginaw Valley enters with a 22-7 overall record and claimed the program's first GLIAC Championships since the 1984-85 season. Lewis is 24-8 overall for 2015-16 and finished fourth in the GLVC East Division with a 12-6 mark. The teams met earlier this season on November 21 in Lewis, with the Flyers escaping with a narrow 85-84 victory after a late layup and a last-second look for SVSU that didn't fall.
