UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The SVSU men's basketball team hosted the Great Lakes Christian College Lakes on Wednesday (Dec. 9) night in a non-conference tilt at SVSU's O'Neill Arena. The Cardinals would end up defeating the Lakes by a final score of 100-43 at SVSU's O'Neill Arena.

Saginaw Valley led by a 54-18 count at the halftime break, using seven first half points each from Mike Wells and Vincent Adams

The Cardinals continued the fine play in the second frame, outscoring GLCC by a mark of 46-25 in the final 20 minutes to close out for the 57-point victory, 100-43.

Inside the Boxscore

  • Devin Dixon led the attack, posting career-highs of 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Cardinals. 
  • Wells added 11 points for SVSU while dishing-out four assists and adding three steals.
  • Sterling Johnson reached double-figures in scoring as well, netting 10 points and adding four steals and three assists.
  • Damon Bozeman finished with 10 points while Kellen Smith had a team-best six assists to go along with a pair of steals, two blocks and four points. 
  • Adams chipped-in with seven points, five boards, three helpers and two steals.
  • Jon Marosi added a season-high seven points and career-high 11 boards. His 11 rebounds matched Dixon's game-high in that category.
  • Wade Gelhaus grabbed nine boards and added eight points to the SVSU effort.
  • Anthony Kiminski led the Lakes with 16 points and seven boards.

Dixon earned Meijer "Player of the Game" honors after posting his career-highs of 22 points and 11 rebounds.

Up Next for SVSU

The Cardinals travel to face nationally No. 18-ranked Ashland University on Saturday (Dec. 12). The Eagles (7-0, 2-0 GLIAC) are coming off a 74-53 victory wednesday night at home against the Hillsdale College Chargers. Tip-off against the GLIAC South Division opponent is set for 3:00 p.m. at AU's Kate's Gymnasium.
