UNIVERSITY CENTER - The Saginaw Valley State University men's basketball team is headed north for a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Semifinals matchup with the Lake Superior State University Lakers.

The two teams will square-off on Saturday (Mar. 7) with a tip-off time of 1:00 pm in LSSU's Bud Cooper Gymnasium.  SVSU is the #4 seed in the tournament while the Lakers are #1 after claiming the 2015 regular season championship.  #3 Ferris State and #7 Walsh will play in the other semifinal contest, set to tip at roughly 3:00 pm.

Saginaw Valley claimed both games versus Lake Superior during the 2014-15 regular season.  The Cardinals posted an 81-76 win at LSSU on January 15th before claiming a 56-52 decision at home on February 12th.

This year's semifinals mark just the fourth time the SVSU men's basketball program has advanced this far.  The last time was in the 1997 tournament, when the Cards lost to Oakland (95-83) before defeating Hillsdale by an 81-69 count in the consolation game.  This year is the eighth time the program has played in the annual postseason tournament.
