Men's Basketball Summer Camp Preview

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State Men's Basketball has announced its series of summer camps designed to generate rapid growth and knowledge about the fundamentals of basketball.

All camps will feature teaching and demonstrations from SVSU men's basketball student-athletes and head coach Randy Baruth on campus in the Ryder Center. Registration is available online for the first time by going to the 2013 SVSU Men's Basketball Camps homepage.

Skill Development Day Camp - June 17-19 (click for brochure)

This camp is open to boys and girls entering grades K-8 and will offer a solid foundation in skill development and motivation. Participants will develop confidence, a love for the game, athleticism and individual skill improvements. The three-day camp will be directed by the SVSU men's basketball coaching staff and will progress in a teaching fashion that takes into account age and skill differences.

Team Camp - June 24-25 (click for brochure)

This camp is open to men's teams at the junior high, junior varsity and varsity levels. Each team will be guaranteed five regulation basketball games. MHSAA rules apply on all contests and SVSU head coach Randy Baruth and his staff will be available to talk basketball during the entire camp.

Perimeter & Post Play Position Camp - June 26-27 (click for brochure)

This camp is open to boys entering grades 4-12 and will include instruction designed to benefit both guards and post players. Features of this camp will include strength and conditioning, ball handling, shooting development, development workouts, and daily competition designed to help individuals learn who they are and what is their style of game. Each camper will be able to choose their area of focus: posts or guards.

Shooting & Scoring Camp - June 28-29 (click for brochure)

This camp is also open to boys entering grades 4-12. The two-day event will feature individual breakdown of shot, free-throw shooting, footwork/shot preparation as well as how to teach yourself and learn your shot.

All participants in the instructional camps will receive a camp t-shirt, notebook, motivational materials and a written individual analysis of their play.
