Cardinals Earn GLIAC All-Academic Honors

Bay City, Mich.--The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced the 2012 Basketball Academic Teams. Saginaw Valley State University basketball was represented by eight student-athletes on the achievement list.

Criteria states the student-athlete must be an active member on the roster at the end of the season, not a freshman or a first year transfer student.

All-Academic Teams are comprised of those student-athletes that meet criteria and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.0-3.49. 

The Saginaw Valley State women's basketball team was represented by Marah Kyle (Bluffton, Ind.) on the All-Academic Team, while Patrick O'Brien (Flint, Mich./Powers Catholic HS), Eli Redman (Bath, Mich.), Sean Romsek (Fowlerville, Mich.) and Josh Pickell (Reese, Mich.) earned recognition for the men's squad.

Academic Excellence Teams are comprised of student athletes that have a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.50-4.0. 

The Cardinals were represented by three individuals on the 2012 GLIAC Academic Excellence Team. Kristen Greene (Brown City, Mich.) was the lone representative for the Lady Cardinals on the achievement list. The honorees for men's basketball include Michael Fugate (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland HS) and Brett Beland (Menominee, Mich.).
