TIFFIN, Ohio – The Saginaw Valley State University men’s team traveled to Tiffin and defeated the Dragons today (Feb. 13), 69-55 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) contest.
The Cardinals trailed the majority of the first half and fell by
as many as nine points with just over two minutes prior to half
time. Saginaw Valley redeemed their lead as sophomore Josh Eisenga (McBain,
Mich.) connected on a jump shot to give the Cardinals a one point
advantage. The Dragons would quickly respond by connecting on a
pair of free throws. The lead went back into Saginaw Valley’s
favor for the remainder of the game at the 11:14 mark as junior Keithan
Jackson (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Godwin Heights HS) hit a
three-pointer as the Cardinals went on to victory, 69-55.
Saginaw Valley was led overall by freshman Chris Webb (Saginaw,
Mich./Arthur Hill HS) who finished the afternoon with 23 points and
pulled down two rebounds. Sophomore Greg Foster
(Indianapolis, Ind. / T.C. Howe HS) posted a double-double with 11
points and 11 rebounds while junior Dan Genther
(Laingsburg, Mich.) scored ten.
With the win, the Cardinals advance their overall record to 14-9
and 11-7 in the GLIAC while Tiffin falls to 2-21 overall on the
season and 1-15 in the GLIAC. Saginaw Valley will return to action
when they host Ferris State University (Feb. 18). Tip-off is
scheduled for 8 pm.
