HILLSDALE, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's basketball team was defeated by Hillsdale College today (Jan. 28), 61-57 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match-up.

The Cardinals went into the locker room down by two at the end of the first half.  Saginaw Valley was led by freshman Chris Webb (Saginaw, Mich. / Arthur Hill HS) and sophomore Greg Foster (Indianapolis, Ind. / T.C. Saginaw Valley battled back in the second half, going up by as many as seven, but it would not be enough, as Hillsdale took the lead for the final time with 6:16 left in the game.  Stephenson led the Cardinals, scoring all 14 of his points in the second half of the contest.  As a team, Saginaw Valley shot 8-for 11 from the free throw line.  Foster ended the night with 18 points, while Webb added 10 for the Cardinals.

With the loss, Saginaw Valley falls to 12-6 overall on the season and 9-4 in the GLIAC, while Hillsdale improves to 6-11 overall and 6-7 in the GLIAC.  The Cardinals will return to action on Saturday (Jan. 30), when they travel to Ohio to take on the #23 ranked Findlay Oilers.  Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
