UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's basketball team is ranked seventh in the first Midwest Region rankings released today (Jan. 27) by the NCAA.
The Cardinals are off to their best start since 1995-96, when
they started 14-4. SVSU is led by senior guard Avery Stephenson
(Romulus, Mich.) and junior forward Keithan Jackson (Grand Rapids,
Mich. / Godwin Heights HS). Stephenson is leading the team,
and is second in the GLIAC in points per game with 18.4, while
Jackson leads the conference in rebounding at 11.7 per contest.
The Cardinals will return to the hardwood Thursday (Jan. 28) when
they travel to Hillsdale for a 6:00 pm contest, before moving on to
#23 Findlay on Saturday for a 3:00 pm tip-off.
