Cardinals Fall at Indianapolis, 73-69

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's basketball team fell 73-69 to Indianapolis tonight (Dec. 22) in their final contest before the holiday break.

Saginaw Valley entered the locker room at the half with a 35-34 advantage after being up by as many as six at the midway point.  Greg Foster (Indianapolis, Ind. / T.C. Howe) dropped in 12 points in the first half in his return home to lead the Cardinals.  Keithan Jackson added nine points and four rebounds and Avery Stephenson (Romulus, Mich.) had eight points and two rebounds.  Josh Eisenga led SVSU with five rebounds in the first half.

The Cardinal would go down by as many as 10 midway through the second half, but would claw their way back late.  Jackson would try and bring SVSU back in the final moments as he hit two three-point baskets in the final 13 seconds, but it would not be enough as the Cardinals would be down 73-69 as the final buzzer went off in Nicoson Hall.

The Cardinal were led in scoring by Foster and Jackson who each had 21 points, Jackson would also add 10 rebounds.  Adam Gries (Fremont, Ohio/Ross HS) would end the night with 12 points and six rebounds, while Eisenga pulled down nine rebounds and added three points.

With the loss the Cardinals fall to 6-3 overall on the season, while Indianapolis improves to 6-3 on the season. The Cardinals will return to action on January 2 when they host Lake Superior State at 7:00 PM.
