Men's Basketball Falls To Hillsdale, 84-76

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's basketball team dropped an 84-76 home contest to the Hillsdale College Chargers Saturday night (Dec. 5).  The loss puts the Cardinals' record at 4-2 overall on the season, while the Chargers picked-up their first victory of the season, and now stand at 1-5 overall.  Both teams are currently 1-1 in GLIAC play.

Hillsdale carried an eight point lead into halftime, with the score at 37-29.  Both teams would score 47 points in the second half, as the Chargers' would finish the contest with the same eight-point advantage.

Meijer Player of the Game Avery Stephenson (Romulus, Mich.) led the Cardinals in offensively on the night, scoring a game-high 30 points as well as dishing-out six assists.  Junior Keithan Jackson (Grand Rapids, Mich./GRCC) posted his fifth-straight double-double, recording 20 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.  Sophomore Greg Foster (Indianapolis, Ind./T.C. Howe HS) also reached double-figures in scoring against Hillsdale.  He had 13 points and a pair of steals.

SVSU will be in action again, on the road, Saturday, Dec. 12, when it faces the Lake Superior State University Lakers in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.  Game time for that game is set for 3:00 pm.
