Lakers Set Cardinals Back, 89-63

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University faced off with the Lakers of Grand Valley tonight. The Cardinals fell with a score of 89-63.

The Cardinals entered the locker room trailing at the half 41-28. Saginaw Valley had a strong showing from senior Dante Williams (Romulus, Mich. / East Tenn. State Univ.) who dropped in eight points. Freshman Josh Eisenga (McBain, Mich. / McBain HS) controlled the paint leading all rebounders with seven.

Junior Avery Stephenson (Romulus, Mich. / Univ. of Nebraska-Kearney) dropped in 14 of his 18 points in the second half, while Williams added ten points on 5-5 shooting from the hardwood.

With the loss the Cardinals fall to 1-10 overall and 1-6 in the GLIAC, while #16 Grand Valley State moves to 9-2 and 4-2 in the GLIAC. Saginaw Valley returns to action on Saturday, January 10 against Ferris State in the James E. O’Neil Arena.
