ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley
men’s basketball team lost 61-74 in a close game tonight
(Feb. 21) against Grand Valley State University.
In the first half the Cardinals were led by senior Dante Williams
(Romulus, Mich. / East Tenn. State Univ.) and junior Daniel Genther
(Laingsburg, Mich./Laingsburg HS) who both scored seven points.
Genther also pulled down four rebounds for Saginaw Valley. Avery
Stephenson (Romulus, Mich. / Nebraska-Kearney) scored six points
and had two rebounds.
Freshman Greg Foster (Indianapolis, Ind./T.C. Howe) led the team
overall while scoring 14 of his 19 total points in the second half
for the Cardinals. Josh Eisenga (McBain, Mich. / McBain HS) had
five rebounds and four points for Saginaw Valley.
With the loss the Cardinals fall to 7-17 overall and 7-13 in the
GLIAC, while Grand Valley moves to 18-7 overall and 13-7 in the
GLIAC. Saginaw Valley will return to action Thursday, February 26
at 8:00 p.m. in the James E. O’Neill Arena.
