Cardinals Fall to Lake Superior State 77-64

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University men’s basketball team dropped a 77-64 decision to Lake Superior State University today (Dec. 14).

Saginaw Valley pressured the Lakers into seven turnovers in the first half to take a 41-40 lead into the locker room. The Cardinals were led in the first half by the tandem of Lawrence Ross (Battle Creek, Mich. / Miami University) and Greg Foster (Indianapolis, Ind. / T.C. Howe) who each scored ten points.

The Cardinals were lead in scoring for the game by Ross’ 19 points and seven rebounds. Foster added 13 points and five assists, while Avery Stephenson (Romulus, Mich. / Nebraska Kearney) dropped in 14 points and grabbed ten rebounds.

With the loss the Cardinals fall to 0-5 on the season, 0-3 in the GLIAC, while Lake Superior State moves to 6-4 overall and 3-2 in the GLIAC. SVSU will return to action at 8 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 18) when they travel to Ashland University.
