Men’s Basketball Drops Close Game to Ashland

ASHLAND, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State men’s basketball team lost a tough match to Ashland University today (Dec. 20) 74-70.

The Cardinals were led on offense by junior guard Avery Stephenson (Romulus, Mich.) who scored a game-high 24 points, including 6-of-12 from beyond the three point line, and pulled down 12 rebounds. Freshman point guard Greg Foster (Indianapolis, Ind.) knocked down 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting.

Overall, SVSU shot 41 percent from the floor, and went 7-for-9 from the charity stripe.

The loss drops the Cardinals’ record to 1-5 overall, and 1-3 in the GLIAC, while Ashland improves to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the GLIAC.
