Micah Cretsinger GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University junior linebacker Micah Cretsinger was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) football defensive player of the week by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Cretsinger had a stellar performance last Saturday, as he accounted for five of the team's six takeaways in the 62-17 win over Northern Michigan. The Jackson, Michigan native broke a 17-year-old school record with four interceptions that included his third pick-six this season. He led the team in tackles with seven and forced a fumble that was recovered by SVSU. As of today (Monday, November 6, 2023), Cretsinger ranks third in the GLIAC in tackles per game with 8.6.

This is the first Player of the Week award for Cretsinger, the third defensive Player of the Week selection for SVSU this season (Elijah Gordon and Alred Dailey Jr., were tabbed earlier this season).

The Cardinals hit the road in the final contest of the 2023 regular season when they make the long trip to Houghton, Michigan to play Michigan Tech this Saturday, November 11. The game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
