Football Features Five Cardinals on Pro Day in Brighton

BRIGHTON, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University football program held its Pro Day on Thursday inside the Legacy Sports Complex in Brighton, Michigan. The event featured five SVSU football players as well as players from eight other colleges and universities.

Running back Isaiah Malcome, linebacker Trevor Nowaske, tight end Andrew Schroeder, edge Nathan Talakai, and wide receiver Casey Williams all participated in the event for SVSU. The five Cardinal athletes along with the other 16 NFL Draft-eligible athletes performed combine-like drills in front of 16 professional scouts that included 15 NFL teams.

The event gives the opportunity for these athletes to showcase their skills to professional scouts leading up to the NFL Draft in April. For a lot of college football players, the pro day is the only chance they will get to work out for professional scouts and get their shot at being signed to a professional team.

The day began with measurements, vertical jump, and weights before moving on to the broad jump, 40-yard dash, pro-shuttle drill, 3-cone L-drill, and position drills. All participants of the pro day also took the Wonderlic Test.

The NFL Draft starts on April 27, 2023, and runs through April 29.
