WEEK 11: Cardinals close 2021 regular season at Michigan Tech

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University football team closes the 2021 regular season against Michigan Tech at 1 pm on Saturday in Houghton, Mich.

After starting the season 2-3, with three losses to nationally-ranked opponents, the Cardinals have rattled off five straight wins and SVSU looks to close the regular season with a sixth victory in a row.

The running game played a huge part in the Cardinal win last week against Northern Michigan University. After falling behind 21-6, SVSU established the ground game, scoring 27 unanswered points in a 33-21 victory. In the win, 278 yards of the 428 total yards for SVSU came on the ground, led by Tommy Scott with 20 carries for 98 yards.

Scott, a senior from Muskegon, Mich., currently sits sixth on the SVSU all-time rushing list with 2,586 yards. He needs 107 yards on the ground against Michigan Tech to climb to third on the list and pass Tim Neelands (1995-98), who finished his career with 2,692 yards.

Michigan Tech enters the game with a record of 5-4 overall and 4-2 in the league. The winner of Saturday's game is guaranteed to finish no worse than third in the GLIAC this season.
