UNIVERSITY CENTER - A pair of former Saginaw Valley State University football student-athletes will get their chance to make an NFL roster this spring.  Offensive lineman Jesse Somsel has officially signed-on as an undrafted free agent with the Minnesota Vikings and defensive end Will Schwarz has been invited to take part in Rookie Minicamp for the Miami Dolphins.

Somsel and Schwarz were both centerpieces of a Saginaw Valley program that claimed three-straight GLIAC North Division titles from 2011-2013.  The Cardinals also were participants in the NCAA Division II Playoffs in two of those years (2011, 13).

The two will look to join current NFL players Todd Herremans (Colts), Jeff Heath (Cowboys) and Jeff Janis (Packers) as former SVSU football players who are in the NFL.

Both players will be participating in the respective Rookie Minicamps this weekend looking to secure a spot on that team's roster.  Stay tuned to the official websites for updates on how the teams' rookies are performing and progressing at the respective camps.
