UNIVERSITY CENTER - The Saginaw Valley State University football program will officially kick-off the 2015-16 season with the beginning of spring practices on Friday, March 20th.  The Cardinals will take part in a series of practices, all leading up to the annual Spring Game that will be played on Saturday, April 18th at 11:00 am.  

Head Coach Jim Collins leads his team into spring competition for what will be his eighth season at the helm of the program.  The team and coaching staff are excited to get back at it and look forward to some great competition in the coming weeks.

"We are extremely excited to be starting practice," said Collins, whose teams have claimed three of the past four GLIAC North Division titles.  "We will be more prepared than ever because of all the work we were able to do indoors with the addition of the fieldhouse.  We always look forward to the opportunity to improve but also really enjoy the competition at each position and the battles between offense and defense."

Those battles and competition will begin at 3:00 pm on Friday at Harvey Randall Wickes Memorial Stadium on the campus of SVSU.  The Cardinals will be hosting their first practice outdoors and the schedule will be weather-dependent from there.

Saginaw Valley is set to officially open regular season play for the 2015 season on Thursday, September 3rd at the University of Indianapolis.  It's the second contest of a two-year, home-and-home series between the Cardinals and the former GLIAC-rival Greyhounds.  Click here for the full 2015 SVSU Football Schedule
