Six Football Student-Athletes Named All-GLIAC Honorable Mention

BAY CITY - Six Saginaw Valley State University football student-athletes were selected as members of the 2014 All-GLIAC Honorable Mention team after voting from the league's head coaches.

Senior defensive ends Murtada Jabbie and Will Schwarz, redshirt freshman linebacker Bryan Jones, senior offensive linemen Logan Hauserman and Jesse Somsel and junior wide receiver Bryan Fobbs were all named to the honorable mention squad.

Jones was third in the league with 9.6 tackles per game and second with 106 total stops.  Both marks led the Cardinals.  He added one sack and four tackles-for-loss. - Stats

Jabbie had 55 stops and 4.5 sacks as part of 7.5 total tackles-for-loss in 2014.  He added an interception that he returned for a TD in the team's 14-7 victory over Northern Michigan. - Stats

Schwarz registered 33 tackles for the Cards with a team-high five sacks, 7.5 tackles-for-loss and one forced fumble. - Stats

Fobbs led the SVSU receivers with 52 catches for 612 yards and six scores. - Stats  

Hauserman and Somsel round-out their careers after contributing to a pair of 1,000-yard rushers in the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
