Bulldogs Defeat Saginaw Valley, 47-13

UNIVERSITY CENTER - The Saginaw Valley State University football team was defeated at home by the #14 Ferris State University Bulldogs by a score of 47-13 on Saturday night (9/27) in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match-up.

Ferris started out by scoring the first 27 points of the game, leading by that margin with 4:21 left in the first half.

The Cardinals would get on the board for the first time with 50 ticks left on the clock for the first half when Keith Moore completed a pass to Allante Gardner, who took it all the way to the endzone for the score and his first-career touchdown .  A failed two-point conversion from the swinging-gate formation would make the score 27-6.

The Bulldogs took over once more with 35 seconds left to play and would score on a 56 yard TD pass as time expired on a third and four.  That extended the Ferris lead out to 34-6 heading into the break.

FSU tacked-on another 13 points in the third quarter to make the score 47-6 after three quarters of play.

Saginaw Valley would score once more on an eight yard run from Josh Holton with 3:39 left to play in the game to make the score 47-13.

That is where the score would stand, as the Bulldogs remained unbeaten on the season with a 4-0 mark and 3-0 record in the GLIAC.  The Cardinals fell to 0-4 overall and 0-3 in league play with the loss.

Ferris had the advantage in the total offense category, out-gaining SVSU by a margin of 562-287.

Holton had 73 yards on the ground on five rushes to lead the way offensively in the fourth quarter.  Bryan Fobbs had 45 yards receiving on a pair of catches and Andrew Dillon had a team-high five catches and 39 yards.

Matt McKoy had 12 stops defensively for the Cards with a sack, marking a career-high for the sophomore.  Bryan Jones added 11 tackles for SVSU, as he is third in the GLIAC with an average of 10.5 tackles-per-game.

Saginaw Valley rounds-out the heavy home portion of its schedule next Saturday when it hosts Northern Michigan University in another GLIAC North Division contest.  Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm at Wickes Stadium.
