Janis Earns Third GLIAC "Offensive Player of the Week" Honor after Historic Weekend

BAY CITY, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University junior wideout Jeff Janis (Tawas, Mich.) was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) "Offensive Player of the Week" for his record-setting performance in the Cardinals' 34-23 victory over Michigan Technological University last Saturday.

Janis had a record breaking day as he helped lead the Cardinals to a 34-23 victory over Michigan Tech. Janis hauled in a GLIAC and  school-record 18 passes for 226 yards and three TDs. His 18 catches broke Andrew Beaver's SVSU mark of 14 that was set in 2010 and Carlton Brewster of Ferris State's mark in 2004. Janis would go on to break Beaver's single-season receptions record as well, passing the old mark of 74 that was set in 2010. The third record he broke was the SVSU single-season receiving yards mark of 1,130 yards that was set by Glenn Martinez in 2003. Janis now has 85 catches this season for 1,289 yards and 13 TDs.

The Cardinals (7-2, 6-2 GLIAC) will travel to Northern Michigan (3-6, 2-6 GLIAC) this weekend for their final road contest of the season.  Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM from the Superior Dome in Marquette, Mich.
