College Football Hall of Fame Coach Herb Deromedi Gives Pep Talk

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University football team got a special surprise at their Friday afternoon walk-through when former Central Michigan University football coach and 2007 College Football Hall of Fame inductee Herb Deromedi walked into the room to deliver a message to the 2010 Cardinals.

Deromedi, the former football coach at Central Michigan from 1978 to 1993, compiling a record of 110–55–10. He was also the athletic director for Central Michigan from 1994 to 2006.

His message to the players was simple, playing football is a privilege and an honor, they need to play every play like it is the most important play of the game.

Deromedi has a couple of connections to the SVSU coaching staff, head coach Jim Collins was a GA for the Chippewas in the early 90's and Fred Townsend played football for Deromedi in the early 90's as well.

SVSU will host Wayne State in football on Saturday at Noon in Wickes Stadium, SVSU is looking to rebound from a tough loss to Ashland this past weekend (Oct. 16).
