Callaway Lands on Lions Practice Squad

DETROIT, Mich. - Former standout defensive lineman Robert Callaway was placed on the Detroit Lions practice squad earlier this week after signing as an undrafted free agent following the 2010 NFL Draft.

Callaway, a defensive tackle for the Cardinals the past four seasons, had a breakout year in 2008 before testing strong at his junior pro day for scouts.  He carried that momentum over into 2009, as he was a key figure in leading SVSU back to the post season for the first time since 2005.  He started all 11 games in 2009 and ended the season with 22 tackles (six for loss) and three and a half sacks, as he faced double and triple teams all season.  He was also a force on special teams, as he blocked three kicks in 2009.  His size (6-4, 307) and 40 time (4.9) helped him catch the eyes of scouts as he worked out in preparation for the 2010 draft.
