The GLIAC has named SVSU senior DB Matt Black (Toronto, Ont./Northern SS) as its defensive player of the week for his play against Ferris State last weekend.

Black racked up four tackles, two fumble recoveries, an interception and a blocked punt in SVSU’s 26-14 win at Ferris State. Black blocked a first quarter punt that was returned for a touchdown, then would come up with a fumble recovery in the second quarter, and he would again jump on another loose ball late in the third quarter. Black also grabbed his fifth interception of the year at the start of the fourth quarter in the 26-14 win.

SVSU ended it season with a 7-3 record overall and seeded number seven in the Super Regional 3 standings.
