FINDLAY - The SVSU men's baseball team traveled to play a rescheduled doubleheader at the University of Findlay on Tuesday afternoon. The Cardinals used a complete game, one-hit gem from Michael Ellenbest in a 3-1 game one victory but couldn't get the sticks going in game two, falling 7-0 after Findlay's Mason Mayberry tossed a no-hitter against SVSU.

Game One

Saginaw Valley struck first in the game, plating two runs in the top of the fourth inning for a 2-0 lead. Kyle Randick had an RBI double to score Brendan Harrison for the first run. The second score came compliments of a Carson Eby squeeze bunt that pushed Jordan Swiss across from third.

The Oilers responded with a single unearned run in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI groundout. That made the score 2-1.

Craig Wilson had an RBI single to score Nate Blackwell in the top of the seventh to extend the lead out to 3-1. That was enough for Ellenbest, who sat the Oilers down in-order to preserve the two-run victory.

Inside the Boxscore

• The Cardinals had six hits in the opener, with two of those coming off the bat of Randick. He added one of the team's three RBIs and had the only extra-base hit for SV (double).
• Wilson and Eby each had a base hit with an RBI.
• Harrison and Swiss had the other two hits for the visitors.
• Ellenbest (4-2) was stellar in the game. He worked all 7.0 innings, allowing a single hit and the only Findlay run was unearned. He walked three and had nine strikeouts in the victory. 

Game Two

The Cardinals reached base twice in the contest, as Garrett Soule and Dylin Eschenburg walked in the first and sixth innings, respectively. Mayberry kept SVSU off-balance all game, striking-out a dozen batters and walking just the two in the no-hitter.

The Oilers scored single runs in the first, second and fifth innings, respectively. They added three in the sixth and one more in the eighth to account for seven runs and the 7-0 win.

Max Ludka (0-5) took the loss on the hill for Saginaw Valley, allowing three runs on seven hits in 5.0 innings of work. He posted four strikeouts in the game.

Saginaw Valley (12-16, 4-6 GLIAC) hosts Wayne State University Wednesday (Apr. 13) in a GLIAC North Division doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. at the SVSU Baseball Complex. The Warriors are 15-12 overall and 7-3 in GLIAC action.
