MOUNT PLEASANT - The Saginaw Valley State University baseball team traveled to play at Central Michigan University for a mid-week game against the Division I opponent. After falling behind 7-0, the Cardinals scored four unanswered runs but it wasn't enough as SVSU dropped the nine-inning contest to the Chippewas.

CMU got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning after scoring a pair of runs to grab the 2-0 edge. The Chippewas added a single run in the fourth, three in the fifth and a single run in the sixth to extend the lead out to 7-0.

The Cardinals put up a crooked number in the top of the seventh inning, scoring a trio of runs to cut the deficit to 7-3. Craig Wilson ripped an RBI double down the left field line that scored Jordan Swiss for the first run. Adam Turner then followed with one of his two hits when he plated Wilson and Luke Valutis for the second and third runs.

Saginaw Valley added another run in its half of the eighth inning to make the score 7-4 after Kyle Randick crossed the plate on a wild pitch. He reached on a walk and moved up to third base on a Swiss double.

The scoring would end there for both teams, as CMU closed out for the three-run victory at 7-4.
