Josh Eddy Promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University Interim Director of Athletics Angela Pohl announced that assistant athletic trainer Josh Eddy was promoted to the position of Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer.

"I am excited to announce the elevation of Josh to assistant athletic director and head athletic trainer after serving as an assistant athletic trainer since March of this year," said Pohl. "Josh has solid experience at various institutions prior to coming to SVSU and during his short tenure he has demonstrated leadership, initiative, and fresh ideas. I am optimistic that his leadership, knowledge, and commitment to delivering the highest level of healthcare and services will keep our student-athletes healthy and competing!"

Eddy came to Saginaw Valley from William Penn University where he served as an athletic trainer with football, men's and women's track and field, and shotgun sports. He was also an adjunct faculty member where he taught Injury Prevention and Care of Sports Injuries. Prior to William Penn, Eddy was at St. Bonaventure as a certified athletic training intern where he worked with softball and men's/women's swimming and diving. Eddy earned his bachelor's from Central Michigan University and a master's from California University of Pennsylvania. He holds licenses in the states of Michigan and Iowa and has a Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).

"He hit the ground running, building his team while fostering and strengthening the partnership between Covenant HealthCare and SVSU Athletics," stated Pohl.

SVSU athletics and Covenant HealthCare arrived at a mutually beneficial multi-year partnership where Covenant HealthCare is recognized as the exclusive sports medicine provider for SVSU.

"I want to thank Angela Pohl and the rest of the hiring committee for giving me the opportunity to step into the role of Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine," said Eddy. "I am excited to come in and lead a group of great athletic trainers and work to heighten the level of care we can provide our Cardinal Student-Athletes. I became an athletic trainer because I loved the daily interaction with students and staff and the difference I could make while providing the highest level of health care. And in this role, I will continue to do just that and seek to make a difference in those around me while advocating for the profession of athletic training."
