SVSU Names Ricco Righetti as Associate Athletic Director of Compliance and Academic Services

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University Interim Director of Athletics, Angela Pohl, announced the hiring of Ricco Righetti as the Associate Athletic Director of Compliance and Academic Services. Righetti began his duties on Tuesday, July 18.

"Ricco brings a wealth of knowledge and extensive experience to SVSU's compliance and academic services space," said Pohl. "We are fortunate to have someone of his caliber joining our staff. Ricco is passionate about student-athlete success, opportunity, and has an unwavering commitment to NCAA rules compliance. He is highly regarded by his peers and has great relationships both at the GLIAC (Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) and NCAA offices."

Righetti joins the SVSU Athletic staff from NCAA Division II Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida, where he served as the Athletic Compliance Coordinator from July 2021 until March 2022. He was given the role of Athletic Certification Officer from that time until his appointment at SVSU.

"I am grateful for the opportunity provided by Angela Pohl to join the SVSU Athletic Department," said Righetti. "I am excited to return to the state of Michigan and the GLIAC conference and look forward to serving, advocating, and supporting the athletic department and our student-athletes while remaining committed to SVSU, GLIAC, and NCAA rules."

Righetti was a compliance officer at his alma mater, GLIAC member Lake Superior State University, from November 2017 until July 2021. Prior to his work with the Lakers, he served as a graduate assistant for facilities and events at the University of Tulsa from 2015 until 2017.

"Ricco will make our make our department stronger and elevate our ability to deliver the very best positive experience to our student-athletes while upholding rules compliance and delivering academic success strategies."

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Management and Marketing from LSSU in May 2012 before earning his Master of Business Administration from Tulsa in May 2017.
