SVSU Cardinal Senior Spotlight - Taylor McLaughlin

SVSU Cardinal Senior Spotlight - Taylor McLaughlin

Saginaw Valley State University Athletics will be releasing a series of student-athlete spotlights, which will feature some of our Cardinal senior student-athletes from the 2019-20 academic year. Stay tuned to www.svsucardinals.com to get to know our SVSU seniors a bit more.

Next up in our series is Women's Tennis student-athlete Taylor McLaughlin. McLaughlin is a native of Macomb, Michigan and has competed for the Cardinals the past four seasons. She finished her collegiate career with 61 dual victories between singles and doubles action, playing almost across the board in all positions. She finished competing at the No. 1 doubles and No. 3 singles spots this past senior season.

Taylor's favorite spot on campus is the commons. She is an early childhood education major who is set to graduate in December 2020. She plans on becoming a teacher and then eventually getting her master's in administration to become a principal.

Her favorite memories while competing for Saginaw are the van rides with the team and when they defeated Wayne State in her freshman year. Taylor's favorite road trip was her senior spring break trip this past March.

Outside of tennis and school, Taylor enjoys hanging out with friends and family and playing games, which makes her happy. One of her hidden talents is that she can say the ABCs backwards.

SVSU Women's Tennis Head Coach Ryan Ruzziconi on Taylor McLaughlin...

"SVSU has been fortunate to have outstanding student-athletes like Taylor in its tennis program, leading by example every day, both on the court and in the classroom. Taylor provided a work ethic and toughness that elevated our program and her teammates. It is athletes like Taylor that instill a positive and strong culture in a program that continues for years to come. I am proud and grateful to have coached Taylor. To quote the author Le Guin, "It is good to have an end to journey toward, but it is the journey that matters, in the end."
