SVSU Cardinal Senior Spotlight - Kasey Bagelmann

SVSU Cardinal Senior Spotlight - Kasey Bagelmann

Saginaw Valley State University Athletics will be releasing a series of student-athlete spotlights, which will feature some of our Cardinal senior student-athletes from the 2019-20 academic year. Stay tuned to www.svsucardinals.com to get to know our SVSU seniors a bit more.

Next up in our series is Softball student-athlete Kasey Bagelmann. Kasey is a native of Antelope, California who has been a pitcher for the Cardinals the past four seasons. She has appeared in 43 career games with nine starts, striking-out 47 batters. She has six wins and six saves as well, putting her second all-time in the saves category.

Kasey's favorite spot on campus is the sculpture garden by the pond. She is set to graduate in December 2021 with her master's degree in occupational therapy. She plans on working in a school setting with children who have special needs or with veterans through a VA hospital.

Outside of softball, Bagelmann enjoys photography, reading and arts & crafts.

Some of Kasey's best memories while competing are when she pitched a complete game 8-0 shutout against Wayne State in her sophomore year, euchre tournaments in hotel lobbies and the Cardinal World Series they did as a team with Coach Winter. One of her memories from a road trip was when the bus broke down about 10 miles down the highway and the team blasted music while waiting for the replacement.

Kasey Bagelmann on her experience at SVSU...

"I am a two year S.A.A.C. member and this past year held a seat on the executive board as the promotions / SVs chair. I am incredibly thankful for all the friends that I have made through SVSU Athletics. My softball teammates are sisters and I will never forget all of the memories we made on and off the field. Being from California, my parents were not able to be at all of the games, and I would like to thank the parents who brought me into their families and took care of me. I am so grateful to have known Tony Zimmerman. He was the most incredible person who could make anyone smile and I will always hold him in my heart!"

SVSU Softball Head Coach Todd Buckingham on Kasey Bagelmann...

"Kasey has been the model SVSU student-athlete. She has excelled in the classroom, been active on campus with S.A.A.C. and has been a great part of our pitching staff. She's been a consistent, calm force in the circle which has led her to be on the SVSU all-time saves list. And who can forget what an amazing hitter she is. All you have to do is look at her career batting average. We will miss you Kasey!"
