SVSU Cardinal Senior Spotlight - Aaliah Hill

SVSU Cardinal Senior Spotlight - Aaliah Hill

Saginaw Valley State University Athletics will be releasing a series of student-athlete spotlights, which will feature some of our Cardinal senior student-athletes from the 2019-20 academic year. Stay tuned to www.svsucardinals.com to get to know our SVSU seniors a bit more.

Our next senior being featured today is Women's Basketball student-athlete Aaliah Hill. Hill, who is a power forward, played for the Cardinals for parts of the past two seasons after transferring from Central Michigan University. She played in 24 career games, starting 22 of those. She averaged 10.0 ppg, 6.3 rpg and shot just under 60% from the floor and was averaging 10.7 ppg and 62.5% from the floor in her senior season before it was cut short due to injury. Hill prepped at Flint Hamady High School, where she is a member of the school's Hall of Fame.

Aaliah's favorite spot on campus is the gym and her favorite memory is having an ultimate frisbee competition one day for weight training. Her favorite road trip was the team's drive to Ursuline.

She is a communication major who is set to graduate in August 2020. She aspires to eventually become a sports broadcaster for ESPN.

Outside of basketball, Aaliah enjoys sewing and watching YouTube videos. She enjoys this because it allows her to make her own clothing and YouTube is a great resource for new ideas.

SVSU Women's Basketball Head Coach Jenny Pruett on Aaliah Hill...

"Aaliah is a competitor and won't ever back down from anyone. She has a chip on her shoulder and will put the team on her back when it is her time. There wasn't a single player in the GLIAC that she couldn't defend or take 1 on 1 on the offensive end. It's because of this "never back down" mentality that Aaliah will be successful in her future. She is one of the funniest players on the team and always knew how to make us all smile!"
