SVSU Cardinal Senior Spotlight - Mitch Morley

SVSU Cardinal Senior Spotlight - Mitch Morley

Saginaw Valley State University Athletics will be releasing a series of student-athlete spotlights, which will feature some of our Cardinal senior student-athletes from the 2019-20 academic year. Stay tuned to www.svsucardinals.com over the next few weeks to get to know our SVSU seniors a bit more.

We continue our series today with a feature of SVSU Baseball student-athlete Micth Morley. Mitch has played the past two seasons for the Cardinals, appearing in 24 career games as an infielder. He is a native of Saginaw, Michigan and transferred after playing two years at Delta College. He prepped at local Nouvel Catholic Central High School as well.

Morley's favorite memory while competing for SVSU was when the team advanced to the GLIAC Tournament championship game in 2019, adding that he enjoyed traveling with his teammates.

His favorite road trip at SVSU was the past spring break trip to Florida, where the Cardinals finished-off their spring schedule with an 8-5 overall record.

Mitch's favorite spot on campus is the Zahnow Library and he enjoys fishing as a hobby.

Morley is studying criminal justice and chemistry at Saginaw Valley State University and he plans on working for a crime lab as a forensic scientist in the future. He is set to graduate in 2021.

SVSU Baseball Head Coach Steve Jaksa on Mitch Morley...

"Mitch has been with us for two years after transferring from Delta. He started as a middle infielder and we eventually moved him to play third base and first base. He has a great baseball mind, as he really understands the game. That allowed for a seamless transition to the new positions. He is a team guy all the way and fit in really well with all of his teammates. Mitch got a lot of clutch hits in his time competing for us and was always prepared for the moment!"
