Max Fister Receives the NSCA 2020 All-American Athlete Award

Colorado Springs, Colo. -- The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) is proud to announce SVSU senior Football student-athlete Max Fister as a 2020 All-American Athlete Award recipient. This award recognizes Fister's athletic accomplishments and his dedication to strength and conditioning. Nominated by Head Strength & Conditioning Coach Chris Winter, Max's determination to improve in athletics while maintaining academic prominence is a great model for all student-athletes at Saginaw Valley State University

"We are proud to have Coach Winter join the NSCA in its mission to safely improve athletic performance," says Eric McMahon, NSCA's Coaching Program Manager, "Supporting our student-athletes like Max guarantees a stronger future for the NSCA."

Coach Winter added his thoughts on Fister's honor and his dedication as a Saginaw Valley State University Student-Athlete...

"Max made significant improvements in his strength, speed, size and presence as a member of the Saginaw Valley State University Football team over the course of his tenure. Max was a multi-year starter on one of the most successful offensive line units in recent years. Max was a strong contributor to the #CARDSTRONG ideals of finish, grit and toughness. He has undoubtedly earned this recognition."

Fister helped pave the way for the Cardinals in 2019 and anchored the guard position on an SVSU offensive line that led the offensive attack in posting 397.7 yards of total offense per game, ranking third in the GLIAC. The Cardinals were ranked second in the league in scoring, posting 30.6 points per game over the 11-game slate. He helped running back Nate McCrary become the first SVSU running back to surpass 1,000 yards on the ground since 2013 and provided passing time for All-GLIAC First Team quarterback Ryan Conklin and fellow first team wideout Chad Gailliard as the league's top passing offense as well.
