SVSU Posts 19th Place Finish at NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Championships

Somers, Wis. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's cross country team posted a 19th place finish at the 2013 NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Championships, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

The Cardinals finished with a score of 461, finishing three points behind 18th place Maryville. Grand Valley State University won the event with a final score of 53.

SVSU was paced by senior Gareth Gose, who finished 70th overall with a time of 33:28.

Finishing second for the Cardinals was junior Tony Peel, who crossed the line with a time of 33:52, which was good for an 88th place finish.

Freshman Joseph Southgate finished third for Saginaw Valley and 97th overall, clocking in at 34:01.

The fourth Cardinal to cross the line was freshman Charlend Howard, who was 102nd overall with a time of 34:10.

Rouding out the day for SVSU were junior Jalen Payne and freshman Nataniel Cruz, who clocked times of 34:10 and 34:12, respectively, good for 104th and 106th overall.

The Regional Championship concludes the 2013 season for the men's cross country team.
