SVSU Posts Seventh Place Finish at GLIAC Championships

Houghton, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's cross country team posted a seventh place finish at the 2013 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships, hosted by Michigan Tech University.

The Cardinals finished with a score of 226, finishing 46 points behind sixth place Michigan Tech.  Grand Valley State won the event with a score of 21.

Junior Tony Peel led the Cardinals with a 35th place finish, crossing the line with a time of 26:36.7

Freshmen Joey Southgate and Charlend Howard finished in 37th and 41st places with times of 26:42.8 and 26:43.7, respectively. 

Senior Gareth Gose crossed the finish line at the 27:11.6 mark, finishing 55th overall.

Jalen Payne rounded out the scoring for Saginaw Valley, finishing 58th overall with a time of 27:15.0.

The men will now prepare for the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Meet on November 9th in Kenosha, Wis.
