Three Cardinals Named Daktronics All-Super Region Four

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Three Saginaw Valley State University football student-athletes have been named to the 2013 Daktronics, Inc. All-Super Region Four Team.

Senior wide receiver Jeff Janis (Tawas City, Mich./Tawas Area HS) was named to the first team on the offensive side while fellow senior left tackle Tevon Conrad (Detroit, Mich./Pershing HS) was selected to the second team for offense.  Senior linebacker Brian Johnson (Muskegon, Mich./Catholic Central HS) made the defensive first team.

Janis followed his 2012 All-American campaign with a season equally as impressive in 2013.  He hauled-in 83 catches for 1,572 yards, 14 touchdowns and two TD's rushing as well.  Janis led the GLIAC in every major receiving category aside from yards-per-catch, where he was second with a mark of 18.9.

Conrad was an anchor for a senior-laden offensive line that helped pile-up 476.7 yards of total offense per game and score 37.8 points per contest.  Not only did the line contribute to the team's 3,469 total passing yards, but it produced 2,251 rushing yards as well, including 1,00 yard rusher Norman Shuford (1,152).

Johnson led SVSU defensively throughout the 2013 season.  Brian posted 119 total tackles with three interceptions, a fumble recovery and one sack.  Johnson was the team leader for tackles in nine of the 12 games played.

All three student-athletes were named to their respective 2013 All-GLIAC First Teams and led the Cardinals to the NCAA Division II Playoffs, SVSU's third appearance in the past five years.

Janis and Johnson, having been named to the All-Region First Team, advance and are eligible for the Daktronics, Inc. All-America Teams.
