UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University Cardinal Athletic Hall of Fame Committee has officially announced the inductees for the Class of 2014.  The announcement was made at a press conference on Thursday (Apr. 3) on the campus of SVSU.  The fifth class to be inducted consists of three individuals and one team.  

	Ricky Brown was a standout member of the Saginaw Valley State track & field team.  He was one of the main driving forces behind the Cardinals claiming back-to-back NAIA Indoor National Championships in the 1982 and 1983 seasons.  Among his many accomplishments during his career include 13 All-American honors, including being a member of seven different relay teams that claimed national championships.  Brown’s relay teams for the 1,600 meter and 3,200 meter relay still hold Saginaw Valley school records, both for indoor and outdoor.
	John DiGiorgio was named an AFCA All-American for his play during the 2005 season to cap-off a fantastic career in a Cardinal uniform.  That season, he was named the GLIAC “Player of the Year,” only the fourth SVSU football player at that time to earn the distinction.  Saginaw Valley’s all-time leader in tackles earned All-GLIAC recognition during the 2003-04 seasons in addition to his remarkable 2005 campaign.  He would go on to play for the Buffalo Bills in the National Football League.
	Cindy Reinhart was a 13-time All-American during her time as a student-athlete at Saginaw Valley State.  She claimed the national championship in the marathon race in 1984 and holds the national record for the race.  Along with that championship, she twice finished national runner-up in the 10,000 meter run.  Reinhart currently holds school indoor records for the three mile run and 3,200 meter relay and the outdoor records for the 10,000 meter run and the marathon.
	The 2003 Football Team continues to represent a benchmark of success for current and future SVSU football teams.  The 2003 squad is still the only team to ever finish the regular season with an unblemished record, going a perfect 11-0.  The team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs and finished with a 12-1 final record.  The team was led by 2003 GLIAC “Player of the Year” Mark Radlinski and four players that would go on to compete in the National Football League in Todd Herremans, John DiGiorgio, Glenn Martinez and Ruvell Martin.  There were many records broken during the 2003 football season, including kicker Eric Houle setting the all-time scoring record, which still stands to this day.

The Class of 2014 will be formally inducted at a banquet dinner, which will be held on Friday, September 26th at 6:30 pm.  The class will then be honored once more at halftime of the SVSU football game against Ferris State University.  Kickoff for that game is slated for 7:00 pm at Wickes Stadium.
