Cardinals get GLIAC preview at Warrior Challenge

NEW BOSTON, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University cross country teams competed at the Wayne State University Warrior Challenge in the preview of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday at Willow Metropark in New Boston, Mich.

The Cardinal women placed sixth out of 14 teams, while the SVSU men were 11th out of 12 teams.

Mikenna Borie led the SVSU women with a 22nd-place finish in a time of 23:06.6 in the 6k race. Jenna Picard was 26th, followed closely by teammate Lynsey Amthor in 29th. Kailee Sandoval finished in 48th, while Alexis Tracy was 65th in the 158-runner field.

SVSU's top men's finisher was Brendan Nesbitt in 46th with a time of 26:39.4. Eric Niestroy was 55th with a 26:49.5, while Alex Grifka and Bryce Brown cross the line in 60th and 61st, respectively.

The Cardinals are set for the 2022 GLIAC Championships hosted by Wayne State on Saturday, Nov. 5 at Willow Metropark.
