UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich.—The Saginaw Valley State University cross country teams Saturday hosted the second annual Red October on the SVSU Outdoor Recreation & Fitness Trail. It was a non-team scoring event.
For the women, Alexis Tracey was the fastest Cardinal with a time of 24 minutes and 13.80 seconds for fifth place on the 6-kilometer course. Emma Banning (24:47.00) and Aubree Sedore (24:56.20) also finished in the top-10 in seventh and ninth, respectively.
That trio was followed by teammates Jordyn Elders (25:05.20, 11th), Clara Krupp (25:10.00, 12th), Anna Alexander (25:51.20, 15th) and Amelia Kershke (25:59.20, 16th).
Unattached athlete Jessie Gibbins won the women's race in 23:08.80.
In the men's 8k run, Bryce Brown paced three Cardinals in the top as the runner-up in 26:56.00 while Jordan Ratliff came in sixth at 27:19.50 and David Ferguson was seventh in 27:20.00.
Johnathan Buck, who placed 13th, also competed for the Cardinals and posted a 28:18.20 time.
Davenport's Garrett Melling crossed the finish line in first place with a time of 26:16.20.
Saginaw Valley returns to racing next Saturday at the Lewis University Crossover in Romeoville, Ill.
