GLIAC honors Veale as North Division POTW

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team picked up two crucial Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victories at home over the weekend, led by the breakout play of freshman Sarah Veale.

Veale, an outside hitter from Fowler, Mich., led the team in kills in wins over Grand Valley State University and Davenport University. For her efforts, Veale has been named the GLIAC Volleyball North Division Player of the Week.

The award is the first for the Cardinals this season and the first for Veale in her career.

Veale recorded eight kills in a loss to Ferris State University on Friday and followed up with a career-high 12 kills on Saturday against GVSU. In the win over Davenport, she added nine kills and a .400 hitting percentage. Veale averaged 3.63 kills per set last week.

The Cardinals will play a make-up match with Purdue Northwest on Thursday in Hammond, Ind.
