Tennis Splits on Final Day of Spring Break Trip

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Saginaw Valley State University tennis team split on its final day of the Spring Break trip. The Cardinals fell to Tiffin 6-1 in the first game before pulling out a 6-1 win over Albany State to conclude the day.

MATCH 1 – TIFFIN 6 – SVSU 1

Adriana Barrio Garcia De Leaniz recorded the lone point for the Cardinals with her victory in the number one singles matchup. Barrio also won the number one doubles meeting with partner Tara Erler by a score of 6-2.

MATCH 2 – SVSU 6 – Albany State 1

The Cardinals swept the three doubles matchups against the Rams in the second match of the game. Erler, Dickson, Sokolowski, Stuart, and Liong won their singles matchups for the 6-1 win.

The Cardinals conclude the Spring Break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina, and will return to Michigan to begin Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. The first GLIAC match is on March 22 at Michigan Tech. The match against the Huskies is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
