CANTON, Ohio – The Saginaw Valle State University women's tennis team topped Walsh University in the opening match of the 2022-23 season.
Assistant Coach, and former SVSU student-athlete Gyselle Daza Gutierrez, earned her first win at the helm of the Cardinals as the team took four of six singles matches to edge the Cavaliers 4-3, starting the season 1-0.
After dropping the doubles point the Cardinals earned wins at No. 2, No. 5, and No. 6 singles. The match came down to a third-set tiebreaker at No. 4, which was won by SVSU Calli Sokolowski to secure the victory for the Cardinals.
