Four Women’s Soccer Players Named All-GLIAC Honors

Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer program had four student athletes earn All-GLIAC honors. Stephanie Strong and Solana Kelly were named First Team All-GLIAC, Madi Bajis was named Second Team All-GLIAC, and Sarah Fredrick received an honorable mention.

Strong is a junior forward in her third year with the program. She was named First Team All-GLIAC forward with five goals and five assists for 15 points. She also had 65 shots with 37 on goal for a shooting percentage of .077 and an on-goal percentage of .569. Head coach Tyler Channell said this about Strong,

"Steph has been able to contribute in many ways this season. She constantly has 2-3 defenders around her and has been able to create a ton of scoring opportunities for herself and teammates."

Kelly is a junior defender in her third year with the program as well. She was named First Team All-GLIAC defender with a career-high of three goals this season and one assist with one of her goals being a tying goal in the final minute against Northern Michigan. From the defender position, Kelly had nine shots and seven on goal for a shooting percentage of .333 and a shots on goal percentage of .778. Channell said,

"Solana has now proven herself to be a top defender in the conference for three years running. She has been consistently able to shut down top attackers in the conference and score game winning goals on her own."

Bajis is a sophomore midfielder in her second season with the program. She was named Second Team All-GLIAC midfielder having a career season of six goals and three assists for 15 points improving on all of those stats from last season. Channell had this to say about Bajis,

"Madi has come on the scene this season starting every game for us in multiple spots in the middle of the field. She was a standout player on the field from both teams each game this season and has proved to be a top mid fielder in the league."

Fredrick is a senior midfielder in her fifth season with the program. She was given All-GLIAC honorable mention honors with her career season of six goals and two assists for 14 points. The six goals and 14 points are highs for Fredrick's career. She also had 43 shots and 24 on goal for percentages of .140 shooting and .558 on goal. Channell said this about Fredrick,

"Freddy has been a vocal leader and leader by example for us all season. She has bee none of the most threating wingers in the conference all season and throughout her career."
